v4 wit | intuition: a sappy tribute to C2 education

jmaxx38:

wake up, school, eat, c2.

from helping with concepts in apbio, to correcting pronoun reference errors on the SAT, to making the final changes on my college essays, c2 has been an integral part of my high school life. it’s more than just an average tutoring center, though. other places just offer  a quick 2 hour session by tutors who show little concern for their students. thanks for the help, here’s the money, see you next week.

c2’s different — you actually get to know your ivy-educated tutors, assistants, program directors really well. amidst the hectic sessions, they’ll stop to ask how you are - they’ll share with you stories of their backpacking adventures, life growing up in Iowa, late night escapades in san francisco.. it seemed that each time we momentarily put SAT work aside to chat, the mundane process of studying for a standardized test, or going through the notion of “tutoring,” gets a little more bearable. of course, the 700 point increase to a 2000 on my SAT didn’t hurt, either.

from all the saturdays dedicated to practice tests, discussions/gossiping sessions in “the room” afterwards, trips to kimberlys/tjs/eggettes, c2’s been the medium for balancing rigorous work with fun.

having just left all of that behind less than an hour ago, I can’t shake the feeling of uncertainty for the future. what am i going to fill my days with, now that i don’t have “class?” no more trips to tjs with chantel & beverly? no more discussions about the most random things with the juniors?

[I suppose this “graduation” from c2 is only preparing me for the feeling i’ll get once we, as seniors, graduate.. but that’s another post altogether (tear tear)]

in the 2 years i’ve spent at c2, i’ve met some really amazing people, held some of the most memorable conversations with great company, and learned more about myself in than I ever thought I would. and that, is something that Francisdidn’t tell me when i first signed up.
